The Spirit

Pleasure &
conviviality

This place, symbolic of the Beaune Montagnard spirit of yesteryear, aims above all for conviviality.

We have preserved this heritage, with its generous servings, an extensive and somewhat eclectic wine list and a "guinguette"* atmosphere.

This charming spot near Beaune, nestled above the vineyards, is a little haven of peace, a soothing respite from daily turmoil.

*Guinguettes became popular in the late 18th century principally alongside rivers in the outskirts of Paris. Guinguet was a light, crisp, refreshing white wine. Hence, this early version of a wine bar that morphed into a family restaurant especially for Sunday lunches.

A Place

The restaurant was, from its very beginnings, a kind of nerve center for the neighborhood, as evidenced by the installation of the first mailbox on the “Montagne” along with the very first telephone line.

It is a place "outside of time", an invitation to share precious moments while feeling in a completely different world.

“ Let’s all go to Au Bon Accueil!
Lunches and dinners.
Café - Restaurant. Family-run establishment ; enjoy a lunch in the shade.
The food is tasty, the wines are well chosen, life is good. ”

The restaurant also features two pétanque courts, accessible during service hours by reservation.
You may enjoy yet another activity immersed in the easy-going nature and tranquility of the setting.

The Restaurant

To share

Une cuisine familiale, généreuse et savoureuse.

Generous and tasty family-style cooking. The set lunch menu on weekdays offers excellent value for money, while the à la carte menu, served at lunch and dinner, showcases the house classics:

Poached eggs with Epoisses cheese, homemade French foie gras, the "Bon Accueil" platter, our homesmoked salmon, our fine selection of purebred beef, and selected offal dishes.

There’s something for everyone to share ... or not!

The Cellar

Good wines The atypical selection of wines and drinks means you can embark on a virtual vineyard trip.

In addition to a range of Beaune wines from adjacent vineyards, you can sample the rest of Burgundy and France in general ; or even plump for a foreign wine should the fancy take you!

The list gives pride of place to Bandol, the Rhône, as well as to more "exotic" vineyards: South Africa, Italy, Spain, United States…

A fine selection of drinks, with or without alcohol, complements a curated list of anise-flavored spirits!

A Legacy

of More Than a Century

  • 1900
The story supposedly began around 1900 : "Mother Avid" was one of the first owners of the Bon Accueil, which at the time was called "La Buvette Avid", and must have had rooms.
  • 1921
The name Le Bon Accueil featured in L'Echo de la montagne, as a café-restaurant.
  • 1953
Mrs. Noël, known as "La Nono", took over the establishment and modernized it; the cuisine, in the style of the "Mères Lyonnaises, "showcased simple but tasty dishes. It was she who made the place a local legend. Following in her footsteps, the Tritter family continued in the same vein and continued to welcome "all of Beaune"! Then the Froment family ran teh establishment for more than 15 years.
  • 2020
Today the restaurant is first and foremost a destination - nestled in greenery - away from the traffic and hustle and bustle of the city. Easy and ample car parking is available so you can enjoy the calm environment of Au Bon Accueil with family or friends. This warm, family atmosphere pervades both the restaurant itself with its bold colour scheme and the terrace with its historic vintage furniture.
